Tournament Format

***     Please note that when scores are publicly posted it is each player's responsibility to confirm the accuracy of their posted score.
Once the next playoff round begins, the scores from the previous round are considered official. ***

Doubles: Competitive, Recreational, Cue and Youth
Preliminary Round
  • Based on prior tournament performances, some teams in Competitive and Cues will be selected as top seeds.
  • Prior to the tournament, table starting positions for each team will be drawn and denoted on each player's name tag. The draw will be conducted with the purpose of spreading top seeded teams evenly throughout the field.
  • Teams will play 8 games, timed at 13 minutes each, rotating one table to meet new opponents for each successive game.
Semifinal Round
  • The top 12 teams from the preliminary round advance to the semifinal round. The 12 teams will be split into two pools:
    • Pool A: 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, 12th
    • Pool B: 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th, 11th
  • Teams will play a 5-game round robin, timed at 13 minutes each, within their pool.
  • Immediately following the 5 games the teams will verify the scores of other teams in their group, and collectively agree on the final ranking.
Championship Match
  • The 1st place teams from the Semifinal Pool A and Pool B will advance to the championship match to play for 1st/2nd, while the 2nd place teams from Semifinal Pool A and Pool B will play for 3rd/4th place.
  • The championship match will be decided by the first team to score 7 points.
  • The higher ranked team from the Semifinal round will decide who shoots first in the first round of the match. The higher ranked team is determined by who scored more points in the Semifinal round (if tied on points, then more 20s in the semifinal round, and if still tied then the higher ranked team from the preliminary round).

Singles: Competitive, Recreational and Cue
Preliminary Round
  • Based on prior tournament performances, some players in Competitive and Cues will be selected as top seeds.
  • Prior to the tournament, table starting positions for each player will be drawn and denoted on each player's name tag. The draw will be conducted with the purpose of spreading top seeded players evenly throughout the field.
  • Players will play 10 games, timed at 8 minutes each, rotating one table to meet a new opponent for each successive game.
  • 20s champions are determined by the 20s scored in the Preliminary Round. Any tie for the 20s Championship will be broken using the Shoot-Out Procedure.
Playoff Round
  • If less than 50 entrants, the top 16 from the Preliminary Round advance to the Playoff Round.
Players are split into 2 pools of 8:
    • Pool A: 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, 12th, 13th, 16th
    • Pool B: 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th

  • The players finishing 3rd-8th in their pools will be given a final tournament ranking of between 5th-16th/9th-32nd based on their points scored in the Playoff Round.
Championship Matches
  • The quarterfinal (if 50 or more entrants), semifinal and championship matches will be the best 2 out of 3 games. To win a game a player must reach 5 points first. If a game is tied 4-4 after 4 rounds, a 5th round must be played as each of these games must have a winner. There is no time limit on these games. The player with the better score in the Round of 16/32 will determine who shoots first in game one and first shot will then alternate for each remaining game. If the players scored the same number of points in the Round of 16/32, then the player with the more 20s in that round will decide, and if still tied then the higher ranked player from the Preliminary round.
  • Quaterfinal matchups (only if category had 50 or more entrants)
The advancing players are ranked 1st-8th based on their points in the Round of 32 (ties broken by 20s, then by ranking in the preliminary round), and are matched up as follows:
    • Match A: 1st vs 8th
    • Match B: 4th vs 5th
    • Match C: 3rd vs 6th
    • Match D: 2nd vs 7th
  • Semifinal matchups (based on finishes from Playoff Round):
    • For categories with less than 50 entrants: 1st in Pool A vs 2nd in Pool B, 1st in Pool B vs 2nd in Pool A
    • For categories with 50 or more entrants: Winner of Match A vs Winner of Match B, Winner of Match C vs Winner of Match D
  • Championship matchups:
    • For 1st/2nd: The two semifinal winners
    • For 3rd/4th: The two semifinal losers
