FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


(a) Do you sell crokinole boards and accessories?
Yes, regulation boards and accessories may be purchased on tournament day or at any time during the year by calling John Schultz at 519-655-2346.

Prices in 2023, including sales tax, are:
turntable board - $375.00
round board - $350.00
game pieces (set of 12) $9.00
cues (single) $10.00
playing powder in a shaker $5.00


(b) Do you ship crokinole boards and accessories to purchasers?
Yes. Please contact the WCC for a quote on transportation costs.
(c) Can anyone enter the tournament or do I have to qualify?
Anyone can enter. Players who are new to the game and/or less competitive may wish to enter in a recreational category. Youth aged players wishing to play with a cue may enter the Youth Doubles and/or Junior/Intermediate Singles categories.


(d) Can I register for more than one category?
Yes, you could register to play doubles in the morning and singles in the afternoon. Please note that you can register for only one of the singles and/or the doubles categories.


(e) What wax does WCC use on the boards?
WCC waxes boards, as required, with paste wax. On tournament day powdered shuffleboard wax (CAPO fast speed, yellow and white container) is placed in the ditch.


(f) Will there be food available at the tournament?
Yes, lots of food. One of the local organizations operates a concession booth in the arena during the day. A local business sets up shop for the lunch hour in the Upper Arena. Please note that the tournament is a family affair. As such, beer, wine and liquor are not available on the premises.


(g) Where can I find the final standings for each category after the tournament to see where I placed?
WCC posts, on our website after the tournament, the winners in every category plus the names and scores of the top 20 players in each category except Junior and Intermediate Singles and Youth Doubles.


(h) Can I get my score card after the tournament?
Score cards are kept by the WCC. If you have a smartphone or some type of camera, you may wish to take a picture of your card on tournament day.


(i) I come to the tournament every year. Can I help in any way?
Yes, you can. Thank you. Extra hands always make light work. We always appreciate help with set up (Friday afternoon) and take down (Saturday late afternoon and evening). As well, you could volunteer to referee or tally scores for categories you are not entered in. If you wish to volunteer, please send us an email at worldcrokinole@gmail.com. We always appreciate input on improvements to the tournament. You can submit ideas anytime by email or in person at our Annual General Meeting held each year in Tavistock on the 3rd Monday in October at 7 pm in the Upper Arena at the Tavistock and District Recreation Centre, 1 Adam Street, Tavistock.
